A pioneer of modern fashion and sports-lifestyle branding, Mr. Ascher created the original Crown Brands in 1983 along the golden shores of California’s American Riviera, Miramar Beach—where he first designed the iconic Miramar®, King of the Beach®, King of the Court and Sideout® logos that would go on to shape multiple generations of global sports culture, fashion, and competition.
Founder, Builder & Industry Leader
Mr. Ascher served as Founder, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Sideout Sport, Inc. from its founding in 1983 through its acquisition by Cherokee, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHKE) in 1997. Following the transaction, he served as Corporate Officer, Senior Executive Vice President, President of Sideout®, and President of New Business Development at Cherokee through 2003—guiding global licensing, retail expansion, and new category development, increasing market capitalization from $5 Million to over $500 Million.
Today, he continues to build Miramar’s multi-brand platform across the Americas, EMEA, and ASEAN regions, overseeing major initiatives in athlete partnerships, global events, retail media networks, digital commerce, and trademark enforcement. Under his leadership, Miramar and its partner brands have surpassed $5 billion in annual retail sales across apparel, sporting goods, media, and experiential platforms.
Mr. Ascher is also the founder of Omnichanel, American Riviera Brands, and Omnichannel World LLC, a trademark holding company. Mr. Ascher is an investor and partner in the ownership of the Hang Ten® and Lightning Bolt brands. His publishing holdings include Cannabis Now Magazine, Hemp Magazine, and Cannabis Aficionado Magazine.
Athlete Origins & Creative Legacy
Mr. Ascher began his athletic career as a competitive ski racer on the Mammoth Mountain Ski Team, training under legendary Olympic champion and 3 time gold medalist at Cortina, Italy in 1956, Toni Sailer. 2026 will be the 70th Anniversary of Toni Sailer’s amazing feat, at the same mountain. Mr. Ascher's racing career began after winning the 18-under division under the direction of Toni Sailer himself at his Toni Sailer Summer Race Camp at age 14.
At the University of California, Berkeley—where he earned his B.A. in International Business—at Hearst Gymnasium, he captained the NCAA Club Volleyball team to a 102–29 record and two national club titles under coach Ron Larsen, who went on to coach the Men's US National Team.
It was at Berkeley, in his fraternity house, that he sketched the original artwork for Miramar®, Sideout® and King of the Beach®, igniting what would become a forty-five year global brand lineage.
Global Leadership & Community
Mr. Ascher has been an active member of Young Presidents’ Organization / World Presidents’ Organization (YPO-WPO) for over three decades, including the San Gabriel Valley, Global One, and YPO 49’ers chapters—where he remains focused on family, mentorship, skiing, outdoor sports and lifelong friendships.
Mr. Ascher is a sports enthusiast from his ski racing roots, deeply committed to the family's 100 year legacy with the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States ("AAU") where his grandfather, Vernon William "Red" Ascher was the fastest man in the world in 1926 and sits in Georgetown University's "Hall of Fame.". Red and his teammates shattered world records at the Penn Relays, and again on March 16, 1926 in the 440 yard run and the Mile Relay in New York City. This milestone is still one of the Georgetown Hoya's top three moments in their sports history.
Mr. Ascher also is deeply committed and focused on Miramar's long-term partnership with the Fédération Internationale du Volleyball ("FIVB"), the international governing body of volleyball, and Miramar's collaborative partnership with Amsterdam based Sportworx BV, and its CEO Wilco Nijland. Mr. Nijland invented and runs the Queen & King of the Court® Crown Series Events presented by Miramar® and broadcast to over 100 Million households across 120 Countries. Miramar® is hopeful for this great new and exciting sport's inclusion into the Olympic rotation, possibly at Los Angeles in 2028!
Personal Interests
A lifelong creative, Mr. Ascher is an avid artist, photographer, reader, and writer. His passions include the global development of volleyball, the fourth most popular sport in the world with over 800 Million participants, health and wellness, skiing, heli-skiing, backcountry adventure, hiking, fly-fishing, mountain biking, boating, surfing, and golf. Deeply spiritual and Catholic, he enjoys time with his children, extended family, close friends, and his two golden retrievers, Cody and Knox.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/4"][vc_column_text]

Christopher St. John “Sinjin” Smith is the Vice President of Miramar Brands Group, Inc. (:”Miramar”). Sinjin is responsible for the long-term growth and profitability of Miramar, and its strategic direction. Sinjin is the greatest beach volleyball player in the history of the sport. Sinjin’s accomplishments as a player earned him a place in both the International Volleyball Hall of Fame and the Beach Volleyball Hall of Fame. He and longtime partner Randy Stoklos won more professional beach tournaments as a team (114) than anyone before or since and Sinjin’s 139 career victories rank second all-time among individual players. He has won multiple World Championships, “King of the Beach” Invitationals, Manhattan Beach Opens and has represented the United States in the Olympic games. Sinjin played for the USA Indoor National Team for 4 years and was a collegiate All-American at UCLA where he won two National Championships and a finals MVP for the Bruins. He was the second volleyball player ever inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame. In his youth, Sinjin was a fixture at legendary Sorrento Beach where he learned the game from pioneers like Ron Von Hagen and Gene Selznick. Sinjin is a longtime resident of Pacific Palisades where he lives with his wife, Patty, and the couple’s three children, Hagen, Stanton and Sinjin, Jr.
For all his records as a beach volleyball player, Sinjin is perhaps just as well known for his service to the game off the court. Author, commentator, businessman, entrepreneur, actor, coach, ambassador—even model—Sinjin has been a cultural force in the sport his entire life. He is “beach royalty”. Sinjin has made appearances in television series, commercials and motion pictures, including the hit TV show Magnum P.I. and the Tri-Star feature film Side Out. Sinjin has appeared on the covers and pages of many newspapers and magazines worldwide, including The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, People Magazine (one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world through time) Esquire and Volleyball Magazine. Now retired from active competition, Sinjin is called upon regularly to provide commentary for media outlets such as NBC Sports, Turner Sports, Fox Sports Net and ESPN2.
Sinjin is a USVBA All-American and former member of the Board of Directors at USA Volleyball, as an athlete representative. He has served as President of the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) and as the President of the FIVB’s Beach Volleyball World Council. Currently, Sinjin is a member of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Commission presiding over the sport in over 219 member countries including the Olympic and International Games. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization as well as the United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL.)
As Master Coach of SinjinVolleyball, Sinjin hopes to share the knowledge and experience he’s accumulated over a lifetime dedicated to the sport with the next generation of athletes, parents and coaches.
Sinjin lives in Santa Monica with his beautiful wife Patty and their three sons, Hagen, Stanton and Sinjin Jr.

Mr. Ascher is the Chief Financial Officer of Miramar Brands Group®, Inc (“MBGI”). Mr. Ascher has been with MBGI since its founding in 2004 in several key roles.
Mr. Ascher has served as a Principal and Director, its Chief Financial Officer, as an Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Ascher has been involved in the financial and licensing industry for over 55 years, specializing in fundraising in the mutual fund industry, solar, oil and natural gas fields. His early career began with Lionel Edie and Company and in the 1970’s at Sutro & Company in Los Angeles. Mr. Ascher was Executive Vice President of Roger Engemann and Associates from 1982 thru 1999 before forming Ascher Decision Services, a registered Broker Dealer based in Pasadena, CA.
Previously Mr. Ascher was a Board member of Sideout® Sport, Inc., a retail clothing manufacturer, since its founding in1984. He engineered its purchase by Cherokee in 1996. Conceptually he has been involved since that sale with the change of the retail clothing business to incorporate licensing, wholesale and retail direct selling, in which MBGI is now a global leader.
Mr. Ascher serves on numerous Boards, is a former trustee of the University of California at Berkeley, and is an avid golfer, belonging to Annandale Golf Club in Pasadena, CA, where he has served on its Board of Directors. In 2012, Mr. Ascher became Sr. Club Champion in his age divison at the Club.
Mr. Ascher has served on several Executive Committees of the National Association of Seurities Dealers (NASD) including FINRA. Mr. Ascher was an Officer and Marksman in the US Marine Corps.
Mr. Ascher is married to his wife of over 50 years, Catherine Aragon Ascher and has 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 grand-doggys, golden retrievers Cody and Knox.

Mr. Boehm is a Commercial Engineer with a Business Administration Degree from Universidad de Santiago de Chile, Mr. Boehm has an extensive experience in strategic planning, execution of commercial plans and management of marketing and sales teams. He started working at 21 years old in 1987. Through his professional career he served as commercial executive in different levels of the organization giving him experience and relationship with Advertising companies, BTL, Digital Marketing and Market Research.
Mr. Boehm has also a great expertise in designing and manufacturing apparel products. He has worked with many important China manufacturers for more than 20 years.

He is a native Spanish speaker. In 1986 he moved to Albuquerque to perfect a second language and got a certificate in Proficiency in English in the University of New Mexico.
Mr. Boehm acquired his professional experience working in different and important companies in Chile such as Nestlé and Ripley. He settled his own company X-Limit S.A. in 2007.
Mr. Boehm, lives in Santiago, Chile, is married with Paulina Lucherini since 1990 and has 4 children, enjoys travelling and is a sport enthusiast. He is still playing soccer as a goalkeeper in senior league and is an excellent tennis player. He loves spend time with family travelling and discovering new places.
Also has 2 dogs, one old English bulldog and a young female Rhodesian ridgeback dog.
